Or <span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong>ONE<\/strong><\/span> courageous adult speaking up on behalf of a child.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the CAC model is to ensure that no child is bounced around the system, that no child falls through the cracks. At the Children&#8217;s Advocacy Center, all of the agencies involved in the investigation of child abuse work together on behalf of that child.<\/p>\n<p>Every <strong><span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\">ONE<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>matters.<\/p>\n<p>But no one is alone in this. There are many, many survivors. There are also many, many people connected to a CAC who are there to listen and there to help.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>MANY<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Last year CACs more than <span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong>11,600<\/strong> <strong>young people<\/strong><\/span> walked through CAC doors for services. Types of maltreatment reported:<\/p>\n<p>Sexual abuse\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a09,173<br \/>\nSevere physical abuse\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a02,307<br \/>\nNeglect\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0701<br \/>\nWitness to violence\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0610<br \/>\nDrug Endangerment\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0145<\/p>\n<p>Last year CACs provided <span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong>medical exams <\/strong><\/span>to more than <span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong>750<\/strong><\/span> children who reported sexual and\/or physical abuse.<\/p>\n<p>Last year CACs provided <span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong>on-site counseling<\/strong><\/span> to <span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong>3,336 <\/strong><\/span>kids. CACs made referrals for counseling for an additional 3,921 kids.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, we surveyed prosecutors, law enforcement officers and child protection workers who worked with CACs. Out of 527 respondents, <span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong>97% <\/strong><\/span>believe <span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong>the CAC model fosters collaboration<\/strong><\/span> between agencies involved in the investigation of child abuse.<span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong> 96% <\/strong><\/span>believe<span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong> children and families are better served through the collaborative model<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In 2022, <span style=\"color: #00a7b5;\"><strong>95% of parents and caregivers<\/strong><\/span> reported that they believe the CAC did everything possible to help their child and family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ONE It all starts with ONE\u00a0brave young person coming forward.
